Med inspiration fra myten om den selvopofrende sygeplejerske Florence Nightingale undersøger fortællingen, hvad der sker, når heltebilleder genfortælles gennem generationer – hvordan de præger vores samfund, vores kvindesyn, og hvad det betyder for det enkelte menneske, der skal leve op til disse illusioner.
I performance installationen genoplives Nightingale som fe, et væsen der svæver mellem liv og død – mellem det bevidste og det ubevidste. Hun hypnotiserer os, medicinerer os og koreograferer os gennem klinikkens stuer, i en opvisning om etik og moderlig omsorg.
FLORENCE'S FANTASY gransker de kliniske sprog og koreografier, der udspiller sig i sundhedsvæsenet og er samtidig en hyldest til alle dem, der hver dag har vores kroppe, vores tillid og vores bevægelighed i deres hænder.
Follow the fairy Florence on a hallucinating journey through her dystopian clinic. FLORENCE’S FANTASY is a tale of magical powers and human decay.
Inspired by the myth of the self-sacrificing nurse Florence Nightingale, the story explores what happens when heroic images are retold across generations – how they shape our society, our view of women, and what it means for the individual who must live up to these illusions.
In the performance installation, Nightingale is revived as a fairy – a being that hovers between life and death, between the conscious and the unconscious. She hypnotizes us, medicates us, and choreographs us through the wards of the clinic, in a display of ethics and maternal care.
FLORENCE'S FANTASY examines the clinical languages and choreographies that unfold within the healthcare system, while also serving as a tribute to all those who, every day, hold our bodies, our trust, and our mobility in their hands.

Florence Nightingale?
Florence Nightingale (1820–1910) var en britisk sygeplejerske og er kendt som grundlæggeren af moderne sygepleje. Hendes arbejde førte til store sundhedsreformer og bedre hygiejne på hospitaler verden over. Hun var også en dygtig statistiker og brugte data til at overbevise magthavere. Hun blev berømt under Krimkrigen, hvor hun arbejdede med sårede soldater på et felthospital og fik tilnavnet 'The Lady with the Lamp' for sine natlige runder på lazaretterne.
Florence Nightingale (1820–1910) was a British nurse and is known as the founder of modern nursing. Her work led to major health reforms and improved hygiene in hospitals worldwide. She was also a skilled statistician and used data to persuade those in power. She rose to fame during the Crimean War, where she worked with wounded soldiers in a field hospital and earned the nickname “The Lady with the Lamp” for her nightly rounds in the wards.

FLORENCE'S FANTASY er en co-prouktion med Rum13, en nyopstartet platform for scenekunstneriske projekter og består også af et kunstnerisk værkstedsfællesskab på Vesterbro. I de scenekunstneriske projekter indgår skiftende samarbejde kunstnere og i FLORENCE'S FANTASY består de samarbejdende kunstnere af Rosa Birkedal, Simone Bartolin, Linn Haldrup Lorenzen, Sara Khaled og Sarah Lee Armstrong.
FLORENCE'S FANTASY is a co-production with Rum13, a newly established platform for performing arts projects, which also functions as an artistic studio collective in Vesterbro. The performing arts projects involve shifting collaborations between artists, and in FLORENCE'S FANTASY the collaborating artists are Rosa Birkedal, Simone Bartolin, Linn Haldrup Lorenzen, Sara Khaled, and Sarah Lee Armstrong.
